Your thrilling mountain biking tour of Sikkim starts today! You’ll arrive at the international airport in Delhi where your guiding service’s representative will transfer you to your hotel in Delhi. Today you can relax after a long flight and you’ll have some free time today before catching tomorrow’s flight to Bagdogra.

You’ll be transferred from your hotel to the airport in Delhi in the morning to catch your flight to Bagdogra. Your guiding service will meet you at the airport in Bagdogra and transfer you to Gangtok, the capital and the largest populated place of Sikkim, where you’ll check into your hotel. Later on, you’ll start exploring this beautiful city and its local markets.

After breakfast, you’ll head on a sightseeing tour of Gangtok, including the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, the Royal Chapel also known as Tsuklakhang Palace, and Enchey Monastery established in 1909. Today you’ll also be able to revel in the striking views of Mount Kanchenjunga (8,586 / 28,169 ft), the third highest mountain in the world and India’s highest peak!

Today is the first day of mountain biking! Ride along a magnificent valley before gradually rising to Rumtek. Enjoy expansive views of rice fields and charming hamlets along the way. You’ll also stop at Rumtek Monastery, the residence of the Karmapa Lama, the third highest monk in Tibetan Buddhism. After a brief ascent, you’ll continue riding on a rocky mountainside before you begin descending gently to the village of Martam.

This morning you’ll head on a biking route which will take you to Ravangla, a small tourist town. On your way you can discover Temi Tea Garden, the only tea garden in Sikkim and the one which is deemed to be one of the best both in India and the entire world. Pass through the quaint villages of Sirwani and Sang and admire the Temi Tea Gardens along the way. On your way to Ravangla, you’ll also pass by waterfalls and marvel at the incredible views of Mt. Kanchenjunga, Mt. Pandim (6,691 m / 21,952 ft), Mt. Siniolchu (6,888 m / 22,598 ft), and Mt. Kabru (7,412 m / 24,318 ft).

Today will be the most challenging day seeing as you’ll be biking for 50 km (31 miles). You’ll be riding from Ravangla to Yuksom, the first capital of Sikkim, passing by Tashiding Monastery, the holiest and most sacred monastery in Sikkim. Afterwards, you’ll travel through a bunch of tiny towns and rice fields, marvel at magnificent waterfalls and eventually arrive in Yuksom. Here you’ll check into a hotel and visit one of Sikkim’s oldest monasteries, Dubdi Monastery, which is located on a hill. After visiting the monastery, you’ll return back to the hotel.

Today’s 35-kilometer (21.8-mile) journey takes you along the road, past small villages and rice fields on the other side of the stunning valley. Once you arrive in the small hill town of Pelling, you’ll check into your hotel.

This morning you’ll be pedaling to Pemayangtse Monastery, one of the oldest and most famous monasteries in Sikkim. In the afternoon, you’ll begin descending to the lovely village of Dentam before beginning a steady rise and then a downward ride to the town of Rinchenpong.

Today you’ll be biking downhill and keep on riding your bike until you reach the town of Nayabazar, where your mountain biking adventure ends. You’ll leave your bike here and travel to Darjeeling in West Bengal, a city surrounded by green tea fields and jagged white Himalayan peaks.

Today, you’ll have your breakfast and do some sightseeing in Darjeeling. This includes visiting Tiger Hill, a popular viewpoint offering panoramic views of Mount Everest and Mount Kanchenjunga. Make your way to the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI) and museums. Tenzing Norgay, who conquered Mt. Everest together with Sir Edmund Hillary for the first time in 1953, was the first Director of Field Training of the HMI. One of the attractions is an exhibition of the climbing equipment. You’ll also visit zoological and tea gardens.

This electrifying mountain biking and sightseeing tour of Sikkim has unfortunately come to an end. This morning you’ll travel from Darjeeling to the airport in Bagdogra, where you’ll catch your flight to Delhi and, from there, take your return flight back home. For this multi-day guided mountain biking tour of Sikkim, you need to be very fit since you’ll be biking for multiple hours on end anywhere from 35-50 km (21.8-31 miles) depending on the day. On some occasions you’ll have to conquer some tough climbs, hilly ascents, and rocky mountain sides as you make your way higher into the mountains.

Previous mountain biking experience is recommended, but not necessary since you will both cycle on flat roads and there will be some tough climbs and hilly ascents as you ascend higher into the mountains. Keep in mind you’ll have to bike on versatile terrain for up to 50 km (31 miles) in one day. A guide will explain the different mountain bike techniques and body positions to get you feeling comfortable on the trail. You will progress at a level that is consistent with your comfort.

- For this group adventure, the client-to-guide ratio is 15:1. Cost is per person and it doesn’t decrease as the group grows.
- It takes a minimum of 6 people for this tour to operate. The maximum number of participants is 30.
- If joining alone, you’ll be placed with peers that share a similar level of experience.

To get to your meeting point in Delhi, most people fly into Indira Gandhi International Airport about 50 minutes away from Delhi. From there, your guiding service will transfer you to your hotel in Delhi, where your adventure begins. On Day 2, you will take a flight to Bagdogra, from where you’ll be transferred to Gangtok in Sikkim. The guide will choose the appropriate terrain dependent on conditions and the ability of the group.
At the end of your adventure, your guiding service will transfer you to the airport in Bagdogra, where you’ll board a flight for Delhi and, from there, take your flight back home.
