We require all guides using our platform to have a COVID-19 safety plan and to make the details of that plan accessible to travelers. In most cases, group sizes will be reduced, guides will avoid overcrowded locations, and other safety measures will be met depending on the location and activity.

  What you get on this adventure:

  • • 2 days of guided day walks, with our qualified professional leaders – please note any excursions or other extra activities will incur an additional charge
    • 2 nights hostel accommodation in a shared male or female room — possible private twin room for an additional fee
    • Breakfasts and a packed lunch for Saturday’s walk
    • Please note your group will eat out on both Friday and Saturday night and these are not included in the cost

• How fit do I need to be?

  The best thing about hiking in the North York Moors is that there are incredible options for all skill levels. For beginner hikes, if you can walk for three to five hours with little elevation gain, you are good to go! Intermediate hikes will see a little more change in elevation and hikes will start to increase in length, hiking anywhere between five to ten miles.

• What do I need to bring?

  Here’s a list of the equipment you need to bring:

  • • Day pack large enough to carry all the items (around a 25L bag)
    • Trekking poles — optional (but recommended)
    • Headlamp
    • Water bottle or hydration bladder (2L capacity)
    • Snacks and electrolytes
    • Lightweight hiking boots or shoes
    • Hiking socks
    • Light trekking trousers (not jeans)
    • Spare clothes for layering
    • A warm sweater, polar or fleece
    • A good quality waterproof jacket
    • Beanie
    • Gloves
    • Toiletries (sunscreen, hand sanitizer, bug spray, toilet paper, etc.)
    • A small first-aid kit
    • Sunglasses
    • Camera — optional (but recommended)

  Dress comfortably and for the weather in clothes you can move in. We suggest bringing clothing appropriate for the season. Layers are best and don’t wear jeans.

• Group sizes and age requirements

  Group sizes and prices:

  • • The tours are not private and the cost is per person. The cost does not decrease as your group grows.
    • The usual group size on the Yorkshire Coast Walking Weekend tour is ten guests and one guide, but larger groups can be accommodated.
    • The usual group size on the Night Navigation Experience tour is eight guests and one guide, but larger groups can be accommodated.

  If your hiking party is larger than five people, please contact us prior to booking to make arrangements.

  Min. age requirements:

  • • Anyone over the age of 18 can join these day-hiking tours
    • Minors as young as 14 may be permitted to join private tours on a case-by-case basis.

  If you plan to hike with anyone under the age of 14 please contact us prior to booking to make arrangements.

• Getting there and meeting location

  To get to the North Yorkshire area, most people fly into Leeds Bradford International Airport in Leeds. From there, you can rent a car or take a shuttle or a train ride to your meeting point. Unless you have previous experience with driving in the UK, it is advisable to take a shuttle.

  The meeting point for the Night Navigation Experience is in Lastingham, about 90 minutes away from Leeds. The meeting point for the Yorkshire Coast Walking Weekend is in Whitby, 2 hours away from Leeds. From there, you’ll head straight to your tour. The guide will choose the appropriate terrain dependent on conditions and the hiking ability of the group.

• Cancellation policy

  Day Trips Cancellations
  Fully refundable within the initial 48 hours from booking, unless the trip date is less than 7 days from the time of the booking.
  Cancellations up to 7 days prior to the trip date are refundable 100%.
  Cancellations within 7 days prior to the trip date are non-refundable.
