They’ll meet other kids who are into climbing and make long-lasting friendships while working together as a team. Once your kid arrives at Smith Rock State Park, they’ll get to know other climbers and their guide and prepare for 5 days of climbing, camping, and participating in all kinds of fun activities. They’ll get to explore the park and its wide variety of climbing and bouldering options and see what awaits them over the next five days.
The day starts off early so that your kid can pack in a full day of climbing. After preparing a healthy and delicious breakfast and packing a sack lunch and snacks, kids hit the crags and start working on various movement techniques and skills needed to successfully transition from indoor to outdoor climbing. In the evening they’ll share an amazing meal and get together as a group to discuss the goals and plans for tomorrow.
Just like the day before, kids will enjoy a filling breakfast early in the morning and hit another great climbing area in Smith Rock. They’ll have fun on the cliffs and work on various moves while being encouraged by their guide and other kids. Kids can make new friendships on the Oregon’s rocks, discuss the plans for the next day and enjoy a delicious dinner and various group activities before getting ready for tomorrow.
Today kids will visit another climbing location in Smith Rock early in the morning after a healthy breakfast and prepare for some more climbing and camping. They’ll get to learn how their gym skills translate to outdoor climbing and practice some new moves. Kids will also get to swim in the river, explore caves and play a bunch of other games with their new friends. They’ll have their lunch and prepare for a fun afternoon in the park. After dinner, children prepare for the last day in Smith Rock.
It’s the last day of the climbing and camping adventure. It’s time to say goodbye to Smith Rock and its wide array of climbing locations. Your kid can exchange contact information with new friends and stay in touch with them to discuss everything that happened on this unique 5-day adventure. The guiding service will drop your kid off at the airport in Redmond.

To get to Smith Rock State Park, most people fly into Portland International Airport (PDX) 3 hours away from Smith Rock State Park. From there, you can fly into Redmond Municipal Airport (RDM) and your guiding service will pick you up at the airport in Redmond and transfer you to Smith Rock State Park.
Once you and your guide agree on the details of your itinerary, your guiding service will pick you up from the airport in Redmond and your kid will meet the guide in Smith Rock State Park, where the climbing and camping adventure begins. The guide will choose the appropriate terrain dependent on conditions and the ability of the group.
At the end of your adventure, your guiding service will transfer the kids back to the airport in Redmond at any time of the day.

As we planned our trip to Smith Rock, Chockstone was very responsive and helpful. On the day of the climb, our guide was Sean, and he was on time and ready to go with needed gear. Our son has experience climbing in a gym but not much outdoors. Sean was a great teacher and coach. He was very supportive and enthusiastic, and he enjoyed seeing our son improve with each climb. We all had a fantastic time, and Smith Rock is beautiful. We will definitely use Chockstone next time we are here.
