If you’re itching to try out the mountain bike trips in Sedona, you’ll need to be able to pedal between two and six hours, depending on the itinerary you choose. Even the easy tours require that riders be fit enough to pedal up some rising terrain. After booking, your guide will determine the group’s skill level and capabilities and cater the day to your specific abilities.
Keep in mind, opting for the full-day option means more biking, which is strenuous even if you stay on beginner-level trails.
A day later and I’m still smiling about my day hitting Sedona’s incredible singletrack with Evan from Hermosa Tours. Evan was a great guide! He made everything super easy: from arranging a (sweet!) demo bike from Over the Edge, to assessing my riding abilities and chosing the right mix of trails. Aside from knowing all the local trails, he is also an MTB coach, so I got tips on position, line choice, and bike handling throughout. With him towing me-in I was able to ride some expert features that I never would have tried on my own! (Stoked!)
I highly recommend going with the full-day “ride till you are happy” option to make full use of the demo bike, experience different trail systems, and to be able to take water and food breaks without feeling like you are on the clock. (Sedona miles are physically demanding, and at altitude… you are going to need breaks!)
Overall this was a great day on the bike, thanks to Evan. I’ll be back because the riding here is just crazy good!
