On the first day, meet your guide at their office in Troutdale, OR, and review what and how to pack, as well as how to prepare some homemade backpacking meals. Afterwards, travel to the trailhead to begin your hike near Mt. Hood and head south into the mountains. In the afternoon, you will learn about LTC, find and set up camp, and have dinner with your group.
This hiking adventure is for beginner to intermediate hikers. Previous wilderness backpacking experience and very good physical condition are required, as you will have to carry an overnight backpack for 8-12 miles per day and hike through various terrain for multiple days in a row. While the tempo will be slow, it will be steady. The PCT Oregon trip is a wilderness trip, so it is recommended that you train accordingly! Keep in mind, the weather in summer can be very hot and you’ll also be packing an overnight backpack filled with water and other things you’ll need throughout the day.
