I’ve climbed with Micah two seasons and can strongly recommend him without qualification. I’ve described him to fellow climbers as a “technician”, well versed in all aspects of climbing, someone that not only gets you up cool places, but who passes on valuable information that allows you to get up those cool places safely on your own.

He has taken my ice climbing to the next level where I now feel comfortable leading. Nevertheless, I still plan to climb with Micah in future seasons to tune up my climbing and get to remote areas I wouldn’t necessarily go to without the strong local avalanche knowledge Micah possesses. He cares about you as a climber, not just as a client.

What an adventure! This was the real deal. Three of my friends and myself set off for the intro to ice class at the Stairway to Heaven in Provo with The Backcountry Pros. I thought it was going to be pretty mellow and mostly experience, mostly learning basic maneuvers. After a great coaching session we were given the opportunity to jump right into it. The waterfalls we were climbing were so much fun and quite a challenge. It made for one of the most adventurous outings we’ve ever done. Our guides knew exactly how to keep us safe and made it an incredibly enjoyable experience. I will go back next year more than once. What a fun sport that I’m excited to get into.

Carl has operated this company for over 15 years. Carl himself guided us on an ice climbing tour on Jan. 1st, the New year’s day. It was super cold, but Carl brought every equipment we needed, including extra parkas and gloves, which kept us warm all day long. It was our first time doing any type of climbing. Carl made it just perfect, he tried to make learning easier and smoother. It was definitely a great experience to have ice climbing with Red River Adventures. We would like to come back in the future.

Stop sitting on the couch wishing you could be adventurous and go! My husband and I did the Introduction to Ice-Climbing and it was not only action-packed, but it is challenging enough that you leave with the endorphins of being on the mountain in winter AND the satisfaction of feeling like you accomplished something. I have a disability that renders my left leg and foot all but useless, which is not a small problem in ice-climbing. Peter, our guide, was patient and steadfast in teaching techniques, providing tips, and suggesting real time modifications that allowed me and every other person in our group to make it to the top. I would book this excursion a million times over and plan to do waterfall rappelling with NEM after the thaw.

We were on a trip guided by Maarten. He was an excellent guide who not only taught us ice climbing, he also shared all kinds of mountaineering knowledge with us and was happy to answer all of our questions. He provided a high adventure experience while never compromising safety. A true pro and really nice guy. The overall operation was extremely professional and the condition and quality of the climbing gear were top-notch!

Fischer and Dave were the best, most knowledgeable mountain activity guides I have ever met. They gave our entire group of 8 a fun and information-packed half day. These guys could be doing just about anything with a wide array of knowledge and genuine personalities. Thankfully they have chosen to guide in the great outdoors. And Mountain Trip was great to work with. Easy to follow website, email communications, and every detail covered. We had complete novices and experienced rock climbers in our group and we ALL felt very safe and had a great adventure doing something we had never done. Highly Highly recommend going ice climbing if you have not and if you can get Fischer and Dave to take you, even better.

Sean is the man! For valentines weekend my girlfriend and I wanted to try something new, we ended up going ice climbing! It was an awesome experience.
