The most important thing about Camino Francés is that you enjoy the journey at your own pace. Whether you’re a very fast or a slow walker, we encourage you to enjoy the trail. Having said that, being in good walking shape is still required. There are lots of places to stop and rest along the way and you’ll also have a support vehicle if your legs need a break. You’ll be doing between 8 and 25 km a day (5 to 15.5 miles), though longer days will be more frequent than shorter days. Keep in mind that you’ll also be carrying a daypack of things you might need on the trail, 18 days in a row. Don’t worry about the baggage, though, as the support vehicle will carry everything for you!
Winding its way through the pastoral Spanish countryside, Camino Francés pulls in hundreds of thousands people yearly—making it the most coveted Camino de Santiago trail. While finishing it from start to finish would take at least over a month, this 173-mile hiking tour combines the trail’s best-ofs, while still granting you the full Camino experience and the Pilgrim’s Passport. Navarra, La Rioja, Castilla y León, and Galicia—these are the four autonomous regions you’ll ramble through during your 18-day tour, with each of them offering notable changes in landscape, architecture, cuisine, and climate. After more than 2 weeks of countless charming villages, monumental cathedrals, and delicious dishes, you’ll reach the historic Santiago de Compostela and its Praza do Obradoiro, marking the official end of the pilgrimage.
57hours is committed to providing safe outdoor adventure experiences. We require all guides using our platform to have a COVID-19 safety plan and to make the details of that plan accessible to travelers. In most cases, group sizes will be reduced, guides will avoid overcrowded locations, and other safety measures will be met depending on the location and activity.
We also expect clients to respect local regulations and take measures to protect themselves, their guides, and the communities they’re traveling to. For more information on COVID-19 measures in Spain, please refer to requirements for travel to Spain.
