How fit do I need to be?

In order to trail run the Art Loeb, you need to be an experienced trail runner or an aspiring ultrarunner. Keep in mind that trail running the Art Loeb takes around 12 hours, so it is not suitable for beginners or for those with only road running experience.

What do I need to bring?

Here’s a list of the equipment you need to bring: Hydration vest Trail shoes Rain gear Seasonal clothing Trekking poles GPS device preferred Drop bag with your belongings (food, water, sunscreen, bug spray, camera, etc.) Sunglasses Dress comfortably and for the weather in clothes you can move in. We suggest bringing clothing appropriate for the season. Layers are best and don’t wear jeans.

Group sizes and prices: For the group adventures, the usual client to guide ratio is 4:1. The cost per person decreases as the group grows, so it’s the perfect opportunity to trail run with friends and family! Trail running the Art Loeb can be arranged for larger groups. Contact us to make arrangements. Min. age requirements: If you are older than 18, you’re good to go. Minors older than 16 can do the run with a parent or legal guardian joining. If your group has hikers under the age of 18, contact us prior to booking to make arrangements.

Getting there and meeting location

To get to the Art Loeb trail, most people fly into Asheville Regional Airport, which is a 20-minute drive from the trail. You’ll meet your guide at The Hub & Pisgah Tavern, Pisgah Forest, NC.

This challenging 50k in the heart of Pisgah National Forest dashes through tree tracts and across peaks on its way to 8,000 feet of elevation gain in one big day! Lucky for you, aid stations are set up near miles 13 and 19 customized with food and drink of your choosing. Along the way, you’ll enjoy scenic Appalachian wilderness, Shining Rock and top out several prominent mountains including Black Balsam Knob (6,214 ft) and Pilot (5,095 ft). Your Art Loeb Trail endpoint is the front door of Ecusta Brewing for a refreshing reward of a run well done.
